The Challenge

New season, new web site - and a new opportunity to attract viewers. With the eighth season of Trading Spaces set to premiere on Saturday, January 26, 2008, Flightpath was called in with just weeks to spare to create an engaging fan site for the show’s rabid fan base. Nothing too serious, we were told, or too childish, either.

The Solution

Flightpath approached its task creatively, crafting a hip home improvement site featuring an interactive game that gives users the ability to design a room using paint swatches, stylish furnishings and décor. The catch - users have just three minutes and a virtual budget of $1,000. The payoff - by replicating the nail-biting drama of reality TV, the game lets users feel like part of the show while providing them with a replicable design to show off to friends and well-wishers. Flightpath also introduced innovative new features to the site, including an About the Show page, a Meet the Team section, and an episode guide. Several other features were added, including Rate the Remodel, the Paige Davis Video Diary and the popular Web Videos feature.

The Result

Viewers enjoy a world of interactive attractions that add depth and presence to one of TLC’s most popular programs. Since the site debuted in tandem with season eight, it’s been flooded by traffic from fanatical fans and curious samplers.
